Prophet Shepherd Bushiri,in collaboration with the Shepherd Bushiri Foundation, has officially partnered with the well-known Nigerian actor and comedian Nkem Owoh, also known as Ukwa, to work on a movie production project.

This partnership highlights Bushiri's dedication to boosting the creative industry in the country, recognizing its untapped potential that could reach a global audience with the right exposure.

The signing of the agreement took place in Lilongwe on a Sunday.

Bushiri expressed that this deal will establish a supportive environment for Malawian and Nigerian actors and filmmakers to showcase their talents and skills in various aspects of film production, including acting, distribution, and preservation.

“I have always believed in our local movie industry. We have great and talented actors and actresses that only lack exposure. I believe, we can help to fix this gap. We have to work together as Malawians to push our talents to greater heights,” he said.

Nkem Owoh said after signing the agreement the two teams will work together to create productions, indicating that the first project is set to begin in April 2024.

“All interested actors and actresses from Malawi will be advised shortly on how to make their applications,” he said.

The veteran actor, with over three decades of experience in the film industry, praised Bushiri for his efforts in promoting Malawian artists through various projects under his foundation and Major One Records.

Over the years, Nollywood actors have collaborated with creatives in Malawi, with notable names like Patience Ozokwor, Desmond Elliot, and Van Vicker actively participating in various initiatives.

Former president Joyce Banda also engaged with the Africa Movie Academy Awards (Amaa) to bring film training programs to the country, showcasing a commitment to supporting the local creative industry.
